"Sentence" in Oral Narrative: A Corpus-Based Study
When building a sentence, different strategies may be employed in oral narratives. We found that shorter the story is, the shorter - in terms of elementary discourse units - the illocutions are contained in this story. Long stories, on the contrary, tend to incorporate "clause-chaining" structures.Back
